Which types of fish contain the least mercury? Which cheese should I cross off my shopping list for now? What can I safely eat at my next business lunch if I haven’t had toxoplasmosis? These questions and many more continue to preoccupy and worry expectant mothers. The ” Pregnancy Food Traffic Light ” app provides quick relief by immediately displaying the risk level of the food you’re looking for, along with in-depth background information and valuable tips for risk reduction.
Cravings in Check: Eat Smart While Expecting
Based on an easy-to-use keyword search and a detailed filter, the practical app can select 1,000 foods by risk or food category and rate them at a glance (red, orange, or green) as risky or safe. A special feature is the integrated shopping list, where the desired food item can be saved from the search with just one click.
“I really missed having a reference book like this during my pregnancies. Everyone told me something different that I absolutely shouldn’t eat. That’s why it was important to me to finally create a comprehensive and well-researched encyclopedia on this topic and thus give pregnant women more guidance regarding the safe consumption of foods,” explains Kirstin Gouverneur, co-developer of the app. The “Pregnancy Food Traffic Light” is the first app that shows at a glance which foods are harmful to the unborn baby and which can be eaten without concern. By providing information on foodborne illnesses (listeriosis, salmonellosis, toxoplasmosis) and tips on how to avoid them, it supports users in making reliable decisions, even regarding foods not listed.
Like the previous Kigorosa apps, it avoids confusing or overly long texts and instead offers a structured presentation of knowledge.
In addition to the food catalog, “Pregnancy Food Traffic Light” also contains helpful information and everyday ideas on proper refrigeration and kitchen hygiene, so that the risk of foodborne illnesses can be further reduced.
